This series of 4 consecutive workshops is structured around the ultimate goal of making fine digital prints: from camera capture and/or scanning, to manipulation in Photoshop, to printing on an inkjet printer. A general overview of each step is followed by demonstrations on actual images, with an explanation of the various tools and options involved.
This is a demonstration and discussion course, and you may bring your laptop if you want to follow along. These 4 sessions are designed for the beginner as a basic road map to understanding where to start and how all the pieces of digital photography fit together. They will give you an overview of the equipment, processes and steps in the aesthetic considerations and technical workflow of digital photography.
The class takes place during four consecutive evenings and breaks down as follows:
Monday 11/9/09 - Part 1: The Camera
Covers all the settings on the digital camera and explores how to take sharp, colorful pictures in the field.
Tuesday 11/10/09 - Part 2: Theory and Structure of a Good Digital File
Reviews Part 1 material on composition and lighting, covers file formats and image resolution, and introduces Photoshop's image adjustment tools.
Wednesday 11/11/09 - Part 3: Making Your Photos Look The Way You Want Them To In Photoshop
All about Photoshop's color correction and image adjustment tools, color spaces, and color theory.
Thursday 11/12/09 - Part 4: Printing
