More and more, editors are responsible not only for making a great picture, but also for delivering great sound. Whether it's a festival screener or an output for broadcast, the burden of both quality and organization of sound falls more and more on you. This class is a must for any editor who wants to enhance their skillset in little time at a low price!
In this one-day hands-on Masterclass, Manhattan Edit Workshop owner Josh Apter, and sound design boutique Splash Studios owner Peter Levin lead you in the process of organization, execution and delivery of sound for a broadcast master.
Taking the locked picture from a Final Cut Pro project, we'll start with a typical timeline and all of its problems. We'll arrange it, polish it, EQ it, and take it to final export to pro tools. You'll also compare FCP's filter set with Avid's, so you can get a more complete picture... when it comes to your sound.
Topics covered include:
Thinking downstream - know your final venue
Track organization - do it now or pay for it later
EQ, Compression and more - what's a low shelf again?
5.1, stereo and mono elements - what to use and why
Hearing the film - channel your inner sound designer
Deliverables - getting it right the first time
Course Cost: $199 Saturday May 30, 2009 10 - 5pm.
